kyth + kyn 2.0

A new chapter

Oh hi, thanks for taking the time to read all about this new chapter of kyth + kyn.

The name kyth + kyn is based on the Old English words for friends and family. These are the values that the brand was created upon. And every decision that was made was (and still is) based on these ideals. Over the years, especially over COVID, I felt a loss of connection with my own friends and family because of the confines of owning and running a food-based business. I wanted to build a community, share knowledge of Chinese heritage through food, wellness, stories, and explore what it means to be a Chinese-Canadian in the 21st century. However, instead of having feelings of accomplishment and invigoration, I felt loneliness and constraint. I wasn’t able to connect with those closest to me when I felt chained to one location.

This is why I’m taking out the physical food product part of kyth + kyn - the one aspect that I felt hindered my passion, took away some of my joy, and ability to share content that was true to who I was and still am. I’m pretty excited to be able to create content again in the form of stories, recipes, interesting facts, and more. And it’s all from the POV of a first-generation Chinese-Canadian.
