Spring into a new season

Is it really Springtime? Is it 2021? Where has the time gone? Springtime is filled with a sense of rebirth, renewal, growth and expansion. The days get longer and we naturally feel more energized.  In this season of growth, how do we keep up with this upwards and onwards momentum that Mother Nature has given us? 

Get your butt movin'

All the stagnation and hibernation of wintertime is behind us! Now is the time to get up and get movin'. Break a sweat by jogging outdoors or dance up a storm at home. No matter how you like to move, make sure you're waking up your body for this new season. Even bears are out of hibernation, so let's go!  

Cleanse your body 

Spring is associated with the wood element and the liver, so this is a great time for a liver cleanse to kickstart your body. Try to include these foods into your diet during the Spring months:

  • alfalfa sprouts
  • asparagus
  • basil
  • beets
  • berries (strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, cranberries)
  • celery
  • citrus (lemon, orange, lime, grapefruit)
  • cruciferous veggies (mustard greens, broccoli, cauliflower, bok choy, watercress, Brussel Sprouts)
  • cucumber
  • dandelion root
  • fermented foods
  • ginger
  • herbal teas 

Get acupuncture

I love acupuncture any time of year. But acupuncture is super helpful in the Spring to help with circulation (getting the body's energy or qi moving), and even alleviates allergies! My nose gets so runny but stuffy all at the same time when the flowers start to bloom so acupuncture has been a life saver for me.
